Shatterproof was founded in 2013 to fill the gap for a well-funded, national, coordinated effort to reverse the course of the addiction health crisis, with the singular goal of ending the devastation addiction is causing our families. To achieve this, Shatterproof has identified three priority pillars: revolutionizing the treatment system, breaking down addiction-related stigma, and supporting and empowering our communities. 

In 2020, Shatterproof launched a national movement to End Addiction Stigma to catalyze the change needed to reduce addiction-related stigma shattering so many families; the White Paper can be found here. In 2021, Shatterproof was a key partner in delivering the first Stigma of Addiction summit. The summit brought together leading experts from universities, health systems, nonprofit organizations, and governments as presenters and speakers, and over 4,500 participants registered to attend.
